My kids are absolutely in love with Granny Smith apples. Seriously, they’re little fruit bats, and we are at the point at home where we can’t keep apples in stock (around 2kg a week is about right, when it comes to inventory depletion). But Autumn has turned. And the last time I took Brandon (Mr 4) grocery shopping with me, he saw a huge stack of Galas, which were piled high, and quite frankly, killing it in their incredibly attractive, ‘take me home now’ glory. Suddenly his affair with apples went from an adoration of bright green, to a sweet array of pink, peach and yellow. Damn, they looked amazing and, it goes without saying, he absolutely had to have them. “Mate, I am not sure you’re going to like these as much as the green ones”, I said. “Don’t be silly Mum, I think they’ll be delicious”, he retorted. Okay then. On this particular occasion, I swapped out my normal buy of shiny green Grannys, for a big fat bag of sexy gradient Galas. Everybody is happy, let’s head home.
