On the way to the foothills of the gold country the road is lined with honor stands selling almonds and walnuts and cherries and other fruit. I like the contrast of the sweet nuts and acidic dried cherries or cranberries. But, the secret to the outstanding flavor and what makes it different from other granolas is plenty of olive oil!
