What do you get when you mash together roasted butternut squash and Idaho potatoes? You get the perfect holiday side dish, in my opinion. The fact that it is all held together with Gruyere cheese, bacon and beaten egg only gilds the lily. To top it off, it is a casserole that can be assembled ahead of time; something that we all appreciate this time of year.
