Kouign-Amann (pronounced "queen ah-mahn") is a Breton pastry with a heavenly and complicated combination of crispy, soft and sweet in each bite. They're actually easy to make, just time-consuming, so plan this as a fun food project for an afternoon. We like to make a variety of flavors using leftovers from our kitchen. (Also, it's a great conversation-starter for guests as they choose which kouign-amann they want.) We love using raspberry jam, apricot jam, nuts and our favorite, salted caramel.
