Growing up Maryann was like a second mother to me. She and my mother taught in the same classroom for nearly 20 years, and we were neighbors with her family, too. I have always loved this stew and Maryann gave me the recipe a few years ago. I play with the seasonings from time to time and this is the latest iteration. We love to eat this during the winter when we are in the mood for warm, hearty food.
