my grandmother's gefteles

This is a dish my grandmother and mother only would make on Rosh Hashanah and Passover, and my sister and I would fight over who got to take home the leftovers, as they are incredibly good the longer they sit in the fridge. Based on the "sweet and sour" flavor profile so common in Eastern European cuisine, but I have never found the name or a similar recipe anywhere on the internet, so I think its my grandmother's invention?! Sour salt is the key ingredient...the dish can't be made without it.
