This recipe is based loosely on a recipe for Shirin Polo (Jeweled Rice) from Claudia Roden's Book of Jewish Food. I added cardamom and cinnamon stick, and gilded the lily with the addition of dried sour cherries, apricots, pomegranate arils and pistachios
