Summer strawberry cake

Adapted from Martha Stewart. A variety of summer berries could be used on top instead of strawberries. When using blueberries, a 1/4 tsp. cinnamon is a great addition to the flour mixture. <br /> <br />The sprinkled sugar on the fruit seems like a lot but it makes for a crunchy golden crust with the fruit! Lavender or vanilla sugar works well for sprinkling also. <br /> <br />If you are lucky enough to have Snoqualmie Honey Cinnamon ice cream in your area, it's perfect with this cake. Or of course, soft whipped cream.
