I started getting into cocktails a few years ago after a great modern speakeasy opened in my neighborhood. Just reading the menu was an experience. There were so many ingredients I had never heard of and the bartenders operated more like modern alchemists. Many cocktails later, I felt like I had a good enough grasp of the art to attempt my own recipe made up of my favorite ingredients. The French Pirate is the happy result: rum, lime, and Falernum mixed with classic French liqueurs. Enjoy!
