When I was a kid, my mom made Monte Cristo sandwiches as a special treat for my sister and me. With the gooey melted cheese, salty ham, and sweet crispy battered edges topped with powdered sugar, Monte Cristos were the most most requested sandwich in our house. My version is a new spin on Mom's old recipe- with three cheeses, 2 meats, and creamy dijon mustard. It still reminds me of childhood with every powdered sugary bite.
