Toasted walnut ice cream

I have my favorite ice cream flavors, but whenever I visit Cape Cod, I tend to choose flavors I don't gravitate toward at home. The Cape is a homemade ice cream mecca with parlors near antique shops and bookstores and miniature golf courses. Standing in front of those long boards with flavor lists going on a mile long, I tend to order sweeter and nuttier flavors: butter pecan; black raspberry, salty caramel, or black walnut. Perhaps there's something about the salty ocean air that makes me seek out the sweet and nutty?
