Velvety sprout & broccoli soup with garbanzo-sesame crackers

My family is becoming more health-conscious these days, and my mother's latest push is for a dairy- and gluten-free diet. This recipe was born on a gray day, when I craved a new take on cream of broccoli soup, and would also be cooking for my parents. Suffice to say it hit the spot! The recipe can be made totally vegan if you use vegetable broth for the soup. <br />The crackers are gluten-free and add some protein heft, as well as an earthy, nutty crunch. We particularly liked leaving them to soften in the soup as we ate it. <br /> <br />(As a disclaimer, I am not certain as to whether the soup recipe is entirely gluten-free.)
