Every year, after Halloween, I make the trek all the way out to Indio, CA to get fresh dates for my holiday baking. The Date Gardens does mail order, but I so crave their date ice cream and love their generous free samples. They also run a movie called The Romance and Sex Life of the Date (in sound and color!) which helps to explain just why these little sunshine-honey-bombs are so pricey. I think my Bubbe would approve.
