For the Cake: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1¾ cups sugar 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt ¾ cup (1½ sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature 6 large egg whites, beaten to blend 1 cup whole milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ½ teaspoon almond extract For Filling and Decorating: 4½ cups chilled whipping cream 1 cup strawberry preserves 2 pounds strawberries, hulled, sliced 1 pound strawberries, hulled 1½ pounds marzipan (optional)
